Jackie Biskupski to Announce her bid for Salt Lake City Mayor
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH – Former Utah State Legislator, Jackie Biskupski, will formally announce her bid for Salt Lake City Mayor at a kick-off event on January 31, 2015. Biskupski will call for a stronger effort to support our education system, improved air quality, increased support of Salt Lake City’s small business community, and a commitment to fairness and equality for all.
Biskupski released the following statement, outlining her platform and priorities:
“I am running for Salt Lake City Mayor because as a single mother raising a young son, I look around the city and wonder if we are creating an environment of opportunity and the culture of progress that I want for my son and his generation.
“As mayor, I will not stand idly by while a generation of Salt Lake City school children lose out on educational opportunity. As mayor, I will bring renewed intensity to build a sustainable economy and help our local businesses succeed. I will also commit to improving our air quality by bringing to Salt Lake City affordable housing and increased employment opportunities along our public transit lines, making it enjoyable for our young families to live and work in our community. And, as Mayor, I will never grow complacent in the struggle for full equality.”
Jackie Biskupski is a former member of Utah’s House of Representatives, serving the constituents of District 30 from 1999 to 2011. She is mom to her son Archie and she currently serves as a project manager for Salt Lake County Sheriff Jim Winder.
